Research Activities on CMR Materials

Eu1-xCaxMnO3 series was prepared by A. Kebede in collabroation with Tessema of Clemson University using solid state reaction technique. Stochiometric amounts of Eu2O3 , BaCO3, CaCO3,and MnCO3 were mixed and fired at 1100C for several days with occassional grinding every 24 hours. The sample were pressed to a desired shape for resistivity and magnetization measurements.Mosbauer spectroscopy, Mangetization and Resistivity Measurements are underway at MSU, Clemson, LANL, NC A&T and UW-Madison.
